Book Review - Sir Dalton and the Shadow Heart

Here is another book review for all of my blog friends! On a side note, I highly recommend this book for any of you that have little boys and girls that love adventure stories - the firm foundation of the Word this book is written on allows for your child's imagination to soar and allows them to realize how important it is to have a firm faith in God.

What an amazing picture of the Kingdom that Chuck Black creates in Sir Dalton and the Shadow Heart. Imagery based around the reality of good and evil is the center of this book with the interweaving of faith, hope, conviction and the desire to spread the news of the King and His Prince to all the corners of the earth! The journey Sir Dalton takes is a reminder of how a Christian could begin to doubt their faith in God when they are not seeking Him, but when they go back to the heart of the gospel which is Jesus Christ, every fear can be banished in the Kingdom of Arrethtrae and every truth can be grounded in the Code. From the evil “Caw” of the black ravens that can make the reader shudder, to the beautiful wisdom of Master Sejus, to the daring battle Sir Dalton faces in the Prison of Distazo – Chuck Black superbly forms a story of faith that any child, student and adult will be inspired to live out in their own lives.

Author Bio
Chuck Black traveled with the Air Force as a communications engineer and F-16 fighter pilot and began a career as a product design engineer. Chuck and his wife, Andrea, homeschool their six children and have a family music ministry that travels throughout the region. He is the author of nine novels, has been published in The Old Schoolhouse e-zine, and has received praise from parents across the country for his unique approach to telling biblical truths. Chuck and his family live in Williston, North Dakota.

Last weekend was quite the adventure...my stomach was constantly filled with many butterflies flying around in my stomach. Hahaha - but as Mr. Kelderman says "If you train them to fly all in the right directions...then it won't be so bad!" : )- Perhaps you are wondering as to why I was overtaken by nervousness last weekend. Well...Anne-Marie G., Emma, Marie, Kimberly H. and myself were all asked to come speak at a Ladies Missionary Day at the Northside Bible Chapel. Update on My Bro : )

God has placed my family on quite a journey with my brother Stephen...so much has happened in the past 2 1/2 years with him. Incase some of you are out of the loop with my brother, he was diagnosed in May of 2006 with a brain tumor. He had surgery 2 weeks after being diagnosed but they couldn't remove the tumor because it was directly inside his optic nerves. Meaning, if the doctor had removed the tumor then he would have woken up with no vision. But, we praise the Lord that he gave the doctor wisdom not to take the tumor out. After the surgery, he went into 28 treatments of radiation to stop the tumor from growing. We didn't really get major results back about the radiation treatment until early 2007. The radiation had done it's job! It had stopped the tumor from growing for a time. Due to all of the surgery and radiation and already deterioration of Stephen's eyesight, he isn't able to drive because he has a very limited peripheral vision. Despite all of these dif

Learning About Him

Where do I begin to describe all that the LORD has been teaching my little heart about Himself? He is such a patient Shepherd and the past two weeks in Europe have given me an even deeper glimpse of how much I need Him and His guidance in every area of my life : ) That is a little tid-bit as to what I am Learning About Him - but perhaps you all would like to see a few pics of the adventures the LORD has put me on in order to bring me to a deeper realization of my need for Him and His help. Yes, I went all the way to Europe! For 2 weeks (and I still have one week left in Europe) I have been traveling all over. From little Zettlitz to the huge Berlin and then driving through the Alps to seeing beautiful Venezia (Venice), Italy. All of this was something the LORD has been bringing about for some time and I have had the priviledge of spending these journeys with a dear friend of mine, Tim Haugrud.
